Trust God

God is jealous. Yes, he is. If you don’t believe me go to Deuteronomy 6:15 and you will find this verse, ” for The Lord thy God is a jealous God.” When he created mankind, he was pleased with himself, he invested a lot in him, he formed him in his likeness and fully satisfied with his workmanship, he said “it is good. As if that was not enough, he gave him dominion over everything else he had created.  “Therefore, after investing this much in mankind, God obviously has an expectation. Don’t we all, especially when we have done other people good? Along the way, however, man sinned and alienated himself from God and the order of things as originally created.

Every person was created with a yearning to worship God. It is just unfortunate that when everything is well with us we tend to  forget him and only remember him at our most vulnerable. That to some extent shows we know he exists but we just do not not give him some thought.  I know some people will not agree, we have a section of people who call themselves atheists who are said not to believe that there is any thing called a god. Well, I have never had an encounter with any such believer. However, I want to share with you friends that God created us for the sole purpose that we may worship and trust him and not any other.

I was raised up in a Christian family so for all my life all I have known it as a way of life. It was only when I grew up that I learnt it was a religion but I still made the choice to make it my way of life. Here are some of the reasons I  trust God:

  • He is faithful and trustworthy; When friends and family fail me he is the one I run to.  The Bible describes him as a friend who sticks closer than any brother in Proverbs 18:24.  I can gladly tell him my secrets, he will not judge me or share with the next person. Instead he sends help. He is a friend indeed who paid the ultimate price at the cross for sins he did not commit.
  • He is eternal; there is no end to the kingdom of the God i have believed in. My pastor has told us several times not to trust in man because he will disappoint us and what’s the worst? He dies. I did not quite take him seriously until I lost my brother whom I trusted with my life. I was so disappointed and that is when the words of my pastor stuck and settled in my heart. Other people have trusted traditional doctors only to find them dead on their next scheduled visit. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation (Daniel 4:3)
  • He is loving and gracious; Oftentimes people declare love to us but no sooner have you wronged them that you see their true colours. Not so with God. He loves unconditionally, he doesnt care about my background, my social status or my sins. He forgives and forgets. He says ” For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12. My God is so gracious he does not strangle, behead or massacre those who do not follow him. He simply calls upon them to repent and follow the path of life.

In my life I have gone through many trials but the moment I remember there is God, my hope is renewed. I cannot imagine a life without God’s guidance in my life. I may falter but his nature does not change neither does my place in him.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:8
