Today is the day you headed off into the wide blue yonder

I remember you and I smile

I smile because that’s all you ever did

I smile because you always made us smile

You smiled through all situations

I imagine how you would react to different scenarios and I smile

I hear the sound of your thunderous laughter and I smile

I catch myself laughing with you and I smile

because your memories just make me smile

you smiled through it all

nothing could hold you down

you did not take this life thing too seriously

I smile because that’s all we ever did in your company

You were a darling

We would work and you would talk

Talk things that made us laugh and smile

you were our resident comedian

our sessions were free of charge

For this I smile in gratitude to the Almighty

who gave us our very own psychotherapist

I smile because you lived your life to the fullest

perhaps because you knew it had an expiry tag

I smile because you

thought you were capable of anything you set your mind to

I smile because you loved peace

you were not one to thrive in strife

spending time with you was bliss

I smile when I remember your love for adventure

That love like a bloodthirsty predator stole you from us

But I smile knowing that still on that day

you felt on top of the world

and you lived

Your memories fill me with laughter and  I smile
