Dear Boss
Greetings dear boss,
I just thought to pen down a few tips to help you in your assignment. I have realised that oftentimes you and your counterparts forget the basic principles that could afford you a healthy and productive work force.
- Employees are human and they need to be treated as such. In Botswana we talk about botho. The mere understanding that your employee is human will help you treat them the way you would want to be treated.
- Esteemed boss please nurture, groom and do not destroy. Every person who is thirsty for growth appreciates constructive criticism. However, constant criticism without the requisite skilling may cripple your employee and lower their self esteem. Once a person thinks they are worthless, poor perfomance is guaranteed. They have nothing to lose after all!
- Respect is earned dear boss. When you treat your employees well they will respect you. You have no need to trample on them, they know your position already. The more you respect them, the more they worship the ground you walk on. Disrespect them and they show you who is boss!
- A good boss does not possess the monopoly of knowledge but taps on the pool of human resource within their disposal. Wise up and soar!
- Your employees are not there to love you but just to do what they are employed to do. Reward them as such. Love and friendship are secondary.
Thank you for your attention.
